Almost all major browsers have a default search engine for search purposes and changing search engine is as easy as it can be. Below are some quick steps on how to change a default search engine in Chrome.
Step 1: Launch the Google Chrome application. In the browser there is a customize and control Chrome button. Once you click that button, you will have a drop-down menu.
Step 2: From the drop-down menu, select “settings” option. Once you select that option, another window will open in which you will see a complete settings panel.
Step 3: Make sure you are in the settings panel. If not, you can select the settings tab from the left side of the window, where there are more options. Under the settings panel, scroll down and you will see “search” heading. And under the search heading, there is an option for “managing search engines”. Adjacent to that option, there is also an option where you there is a default set of search engines. The already selected option shows you your current search engine.
Step 4: Click on the current search engine selected and it will give you a default list of most popular search engines used globally. If you wish to select any one of those search engines as your default search engines, you may do so. Else, click on the manage search engines icon and enter a specific URL you want to have as your default search engine.
Step 5: As you select another search engine, you will see that your default search engine is now changed. In previous versions of Google Chrome, there is an option to save your settings. In the latest versions of Google Chrome, you just need to close the settings tab and your changes will be saved automatically.
To make sure your entire process was successful, try to open a new tab and see if the search engine has changed. Also, note that to change default search engine, there is a different procedure for every browser.
